And the environment/art direction would probably have been the easiest thing to get right, but even that far surpassed my expectations. I figured the combat would be the weakest part because I couldn't imagine how one could do wand combat in a fun way, but it works out well. I had faith that the game would be just "decent" which would have been okay with me, but damn, it ended up far surpassing any expectations I had. Then when Hogwarts Legacy was announced, I had a bit of hope, but kept my expectations modest to avoid disappointment. It could be a big step forwardĪ really big open world Harry Potter/Hogwarts game was one of those games I always wished would have existed, but never imagined actually would. Imagine a fully-open world Star Wars or LOTR RPG where you can create your own character and explore the world. Gives me hope that it'll encourage other developers to do the same with other franchises. Being able to create your own character and explore Hogwarts is a dream come true.Īlso as a side note I'm really glad that the game is so well-received so far. Granted the game has a few teething problems here and there, but the devs have done such an incredible job and bringing the world to life. I'd always imagined what an open world Harry Potter RPG might look like and when HL was announced I couldn't believe it. ![]() Heck I even remember spending hours playing The Sorcerer's Stone on PC/PS1 and couldn't believe how well it captured the atmosphere. I have fond memories of playing through The Prisoner of Azkaban as a kid and exploring the castle in amazement. ![]() I've been reading Harry Potter and watching the movies for about the past 20 years.
